The Medford Summer Camps Activities

By Sally Delacruz

With the daily hustles and long days in school, people need time to relax and rest. Kids also need to rest from all the school days/work. Parents always look forward to spending time with their loved ones and the kids too long to spend time with their friends to play and just have fun doing many different things. This is where camps like Medford summer camps come in with their many programs and social activities for kids.

In summer camps, there are programs for small kids, teenagers and young adults. Other kids from all over the world come together to these camps to be taught different things while enjoying themselves. With the security and supervision in the camps from the teachers who are adults, the kids are very safe in there and the parents rest assured that their kids are in good hands.

There are many advantages of taking children to these camps. Some of the advantages are: they learn many different cultures from the others who come from different states or continents, they learn different languages and also learn different things like how to take care of each other and themselves and they also get to know how to be responsible in life and to accommodate each other.

They also get to discover their talents since they are taught things like cooking, music, baking, acting and different arts and design. They also get to make new friends and keep themselves busy with many educative things rather that just staying at home and being naughty, or just watching movies and just lazing around.

They also learn to socialize with other kids learning different languages, games and cultures from other parts of the world. Other lessons that they learn are cooking, drawing, dancing, singing, sewing, knitting etc. They also learn to be social and many other life skills like first aid in case of any emergency, being independent and knowing how to share things.

There are some possible disadvantages that are likely to discourage some kids from going to summer camps. They are; a child might become homesick especially if he/she is a first time camper, being separated from home might be difficult for them especially the first weeks and they have not made friends yet.

Others who are not used to sports find them difficult to do before they get used to them. There could be some cases of bullying. Some of the kids who have low self esteem take some time to open up. Some may find the place boring and they feel out of place since they are not used to being in a place with many other kids.

It is very important for kids to learn how to interact and socialize with others. It is also good to learn the life skills and learn to be independent. Most of the skills/education acquired from the camps cannot be learned at home so all in all it is the best thing for parents to take their kids to the summer camps
